leprechaun - north wash
|
Located in North Wash, the Leprechaun canyons are a great introduction to southern Utah canyoneering. Your day begins with a two mile approach hike leading to the top of the more moderate Right Fork (East) section. This section offers a variety of rappels, down-climbs, tight narrows, and scenic photo opportunities (so don’t forget your camera). Several scenes from the movie 127 Hours were filmed in Leprechaun. Leprechaun is a year-round canyon that typically holds little water. After recent rains, some pools often require short wades through ankle and knee deep water. The trail head is just off of highway 95 with plenty of room to park multiple vehicles at this popular campground and canyoneering hangout. Larger groups can cut the two-mile approach hike out by setting up a shuttle with two medium clearance vehicles. |
